Go green! Win some fab recycled kitchen goodies and a can compactor! It’s been a while since we’ve had a competition so we thought we’d better line up a good one - which we have, courtesy of SCRIB, the Steel Can Recycling Information Bureau.Tins of course are an essential part of any student kitchen but instead of chucking them in the bin SCRIB wants to encourage you to recycle them. So they’re offering you a can compactor AND (as if that wasn’t enough) a set of stylish recycled glasses, colourful bowls and storage jars from a very cool firm called biomelifestyle. To win them you have to come up with a recipe that includes at least two tins of food. Could be tinned tomatoes. Could be chickpeas, beans or lentils. Could be corned beef or tuna. Could be canned fruit - it’s up to you! Just remember to recycle the cans afterwards* ;-) The deadline for entries which should be said to compsATbeyondbakedbeansDOTcom is midnight on May 31st. UK-based entries only and original recipes please otherwise you’ll get us into hot water! * For every tonne of steel packaging recycled, we can help make the following environmental savings: · 1.5 tonnes of iron ore. · 0.5 tonnes of coal. · 40% of the water required in production. · 75% of the energy needed to make steel from virgin material. · 1.28 tonnes of solid waste. · Reduction of air emission by 86%. · Reduction of CO2 emissions by 80%. · Reduction of water pollution by 76%. Recycling is one of the most important things you can do to preserve our planet’s precious resources. |
