If you’re suddenly panicking about leaving home without any cooking skills here are some hands-on courses you might want to consider. Admittedly some of them are quite pricey but if you can twist someone's arm to send you on one (a bit of emotional blackmail along the lines of 'You don't want me to STARVE, do you?" may help) they may just give you the kick-start you need to get going.
With a couple of exceptions (Divertimenti and Leiths) I can’t vouch for them personally - I’ve just done a bit of research on the net on your behalf and quote what the sites say about the courses (with a couple of comments of my own). Contact the owners to find out more.

This well established ‘cordon bleu’ cookery school, which has recently been taken over by Gordon Ramsay, (does that mean students have to use the F word?) offers a number of ‘gap year’ options including Beginners (1 or 2 weeks from £525 a week), Essential Skills (4 weeks for (£2625) and an 11 week Cordon Bleu certificate course (unpriced on the website so almost certainly expensive)
And finally congratulations to Leeds Trinity and All Saints for setting up a two day campus-based cookery course for local students (not just those who are going to Leeds Trinity) this coming September 4th and 5th for just £50. You can find out more about it here. Other student unions take note!
If you’re offering a course that isn’t mentioned here, particularly outside London and the south of England, let us know and we’ll list it!
