Wandered into Woolies (Woolworths) today to find some brilliant bargains.
* Two non-stick frying pans for £4 rather than £8 (quite lightweight so they won’t last forever but fine for a student house).
* A 12 piece dinner set for £4.97 (couldn’t find it cheaper in a charity shop)
* A 2 litre pyrex casserole for £3.25 (no good on the stove top but fine for long slow-braised stews)
* 4 retro cream-coloured ramekins for £2 (very Nigella. I snapped up those)
* A really stylish stainless steel fruit bowl for £5 instead of £10 - couldn’t resist that either
* Some very cool grey and white Egyptian cotton tea towels - 3 for £3. Those too.
* A microwave for £25 - how do they do it?
And also a whole load of plants for half price including - surprisingly - crowns of asparagus, kiwi fruit and cranberry bushes. No idea whether they would be productive (surely the centrally heated environment of Woolies can’t be ideal?) but the more green-fingered among you could presumably tell.
