Quiche may not be cool but it's better value than pizza

A browse through the shelves of our local Tesco Metro for a quick Sunday night supper reveals that quiche is a much better buy than pizza. This doesn't wholly surprise me. Pizza is infinitely more fashionable and, being Italian, commands a better price than anything French.
This even applies to Tesco's quite basic Margherita pizza (just cheese and tomato) which is £2.98 compared to £1.54 for a quiche lorraine - both enough for two people. Or to put it another way - quiche is £3.85 per kilo compared to £9.32 per kilo for pizza.
